XiDan Girl (西单女孩), probably is the first Net Star in 2009 in China. Three months before, she is an unknown subway singer in Beijing. Now, she is a well-known online grassroots celeb.

On March 26, Youku held a launching ceremony for its Niu Ren (aka master hand) Campaign, a program to encourage netizen to discovery the most impressive folk grassroots experts in any field. During the ceremony, Youku organized a small concert for XiDan Girl.

Later February, famous paike (podcaster) Zhi Ma Pai Ke made a series of videos (#1, #2, #3, #4, #5) to disclose some touching stories about XiDan Girl. In addition, netizens opened a specific XiDan Girl Bar on Baidu Tiebar. Somebody even established an official website.
