Global Case Sharing: IKEA Facebook Showroom

Recently, Forsman & Bodenfors made a creative social media campaign for IKEA to promote the opening of the new IKEA store in Malmö.

The campaign started with creating a profile page of the store’s manager, Gordon Gustavsson. Then Gordon uploaded 12 pictures of store’s showrooms to his photo album. Within a two-weeks period, the person who tagged their names on a product first can won the item. Through the campaign, people gladly added their name to an “interactive IKEA catalogue” and spread to all of their friends via FB profile page, newsfeed, links, etc……

McDonald’s Persuades Consumers Meet Up Offline, while KFC Makes Consumers Spend More Time Online

McDonald’s is currently running its summer campaign called “见面吧 | Let’s Meet Up” on Xiaonei. The campaign is aim to persuade consumers invite their best friends to meet-up offline in McDonald’s restaurants during this summer holiday. McDonald’s provides various discounts, coupons, and cash to campaign participators as the direct incentive.

At the same time, KFC launched an application called “吸乐无穷| Drink Joyfully” on Kaixin001 for the summer holiday promotion. The meat of the app is actually similar as the massive popular app “House & Garden”. Within this app, users can interact with their friends through “suck” each others’ virtual KFC drinks…….

Ford New Viral Video – Remote Control Car Running Across Bottles to Make Music

I came across a new viral video by Ford tonight. In the video, some young people let a remote-control car run across bottles to make music, the theme song of the popular video game Super Mario Bros. The originality is probably copied from a video clip of a foreign guy who makes music by rollerblading across bottles.

At beginning, actually I didn’t aware that this is a viral video. Nevertheless, at the end of the video, it highlights a URL – www.excitechina.com.cn. Driven by curiosity, I entered this URL and then it forwarded to www.ford.com.cn, the Chinese official website of Ford China……

Vanke Involves in Kaixin001’s Most Popular Application

House and Garden is Kaixin001’s most popular app. Now, in the “props shop” of this app, there is a prop called “Vanke Scenery Card”. Once you buy and activate the prop, you can have a special background scenery about Vanke buildings. In addition, there is a link on the background scenery which point to a ShenYang Vanke Group, which established in February this year. Through the group, people who live in the same Vanke community are getting together. On May 2nd, ShenYang Vanke also held a successful offline meet-up for the group members……

Intel Core i7 Viral Videos – “Puzzle Bobble” & “Tetris”

Few days ago, I wrote a post about Nokia’s latest viral videos by magician Liu Qian. Similar as Nokia, other IT/digital companies are never unfamiliar with Internet, gaming, and viral marketing. Last week, I watched Intel’s latest viral videos for its Core 2 Quad processor through Youku Buzz. This series of video, under the slogan “If You’re Going to Play, Play Big”, is pretty funny. The theme is about some classical video games, which is highly relevant to Intel’s current marketing efforts on the gaming……

Nokia Viral Videos by Magician Liu Qian

Liu Qian (刘谦), the Taiwanese magician, has been super popular since his awesome and impressive tricks on 2009 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Recently, Nokia picked up Liu Qian as the new spokesperson and released a series of video ads performed by Liu. In addition, Nokia also distributed some viral videos featuring Liu’s tricks with Nokia E71/N85 as the magic props. Very cool stuff! Nokia’s great efforts on making viral video (esp. by popular spokesperson) and holding the cutting-edge interactive online concert in China indicate that the global mobile phone giant will keep involving deeper in the China social media……
